Up-Keep of paint: Do’s and Don’ts

You invested well-spent money in updating your home with paint, and you want to keep that paint looking good for as long as possible. Follow this up-keep do’s and don’ts when it comes to cleaning your walls or cabinets.

1. Use warm water, dish soap, and a soft towel. Dish soap is mild so start there. Make sure not to scrub too hard or you can burnish the walls.

2. If that isn’t doing it, first try a laundry detergent mixed with warm water and then try a spray cleaner such as 409, still using only a soft towel.

3. If those don’t work, you will have to use paint and touch up the walls or cabinets. Never use a “Magic Erase” sponge or the hard side of a sponge as it will burnish the paint or even remove it.
